These Paper Wings

Brooklyn approached me with the desire to design her new album. She knew she wanted it to be called "These Paper Wings" after one of the tracks, and was able to provide me with the audio.

After listening to the track, I was able to get a sense of the story she was telling. I pitched the idea of building wings out of paper, and photographing them as the main elements. The lyrics make reference to Icarus, as well as the wings being painted gold, so I knew I wanted to show the wings burning, but using gold paint to represent the smoulder. Once the wings and feathers were constructed, I presented possible uses across the CD case, as well as for promotional material, and started to photograph the material.
